My practice is devotional, diagnostic and commemorative. It is devotional in the sense that there is no clear way to understand or faithfully label the individual human condition. The act of trying is the final result. It is diagnostic in process. I want to let people exist as themselves, to be understood, but not as a vessel to be manipulated. I know that this is not quite possible because of the subjective nature of the medium, but I believe the humane effort involved makes it viable. Finally, it is commemorative because we need to come to terms with what is really around us. My paintings are markers of specific relationships, locations and times. This is my project against the abstractions of the everyday.
